Tests, tests, tests: which one is good for my students?

In a highly competitive exam-prep environment, school owners and teachers get lost as to which test to choose for their students. In this talk, we will critically ex-plore the role of high-stakes exams in our context and set out criteria for choosing the best-suited for our students

Spoilt for Choice? The ocean of ELT materials and pathways for selection

In the 20th century the proliferation of published material left little that ELT teach-ers could wish for and they couldn’t find. In the recent years it takes a village to create a material’s package consisting of several digital and paper-based compo-nents. How can Academic Managers and English language teachers make wise choices? Have we become creatures of habit and we go around our comfort zone, without ever daring to explore the different material that is out there, for fear it is.

The use of online tools to enhance the students' learning experience

Online teaching has definitely come in handy in the Corona virus times...Teachers resorted to all kinds of platforms, online tools and webinars in order to find ways to make their lessons more appealing. However, even though many teachers considered this type of lessons to be uninspiring, boring or even challenging, others who were more tech savvy, seemed to thrive in delivering online courses during the quarantine and their students claim that their online sessions were far more engaging than live lessons.

«revenue, profit, cost of goods & services, cash flow expenses» κλπ, ώστε να οδηγούνται σε ορθότερες αποφάσεις για την επιβίωση & κερδοφορία του ΚΞΓ.

The use of online tools to enhance the students' learning experience

Eleni Tzaikou, Language School Director & Owner

Online teaching has definitely come in handy in the Corona virus times...Teachers resorted to all kinds of platforms, online tools and webinars in order to find ways to make their lessons more appealing. However, even though many teachers considered this type of  lessons to be uninspiring, boring or even challenging, others who were more tech savvy, seemed to thrive in delivering  online courses during the quarantine and their students claim that their online sessions were far more engaging than live lessons. In this session I am going to be discussing some of the following issues:

  • What is it that made some teachers' lessons appealing and inspiring?
  • What tools did they use that made their lessons stand out ?
  • What can we do to spice up our online lessons?
  • Which practices guarantee results in the learning process?
  • What are the challenges and how can we overcome them?
  • I am going to present the challenges that I myself initially confronted and the ways I used to overcome them along with a number of tricks and tools that helped me enhance my students' learning experience.
Concluding, I  came to the realization that students can have more access to the resources of their class than ever before and they can actually improve on the skills they already have such as retention, mastery and engagement without much effort. Therefore, we have to admit that Virtual classroom and gamification are not our enemies but they can be our allies if we put them at our students disposal because they do have many benefits.
